One of our longstanding clients recently relocated their business to new offices and we were asked to facilitate the installation of a Cat5e data and voice infrastructure together with comms. room equipment, termination and patching in.
Being in the travel industry the client was totally dependent on their IT and Communication systems for the sales teams to generate business. They were trading right up until the Saturday afternoon and then starting business again at their new premises on the Monday morning.
The majority of the infrastructure was installed at the new premises many weeks prior to the move thus allowing any problems to be resolved well in advance. One such problem which had not been foreseen was the requirement to run the data cables between floors, due to the expansion of the client’s business. Unfortunately the floors were made of re-enforced concrete and we therefore needed diamond tipped drills to create an adequate duct for the cables to pass through.
We obviously had to work in conjunction with other trades people that the client had engaged but in this instance we worked very closely with the customers IT Support Company to ensure the call centre and bespoke software ran seamlessly across the new cabling infrastructure.
Ultimately the transition from one office to the other took place with little or no disruption to the clients IT or Communication network which they were so heavily reliant upon.
